Danielle and Rick - engagement

danielle and rick's on-line proofing website

funny thing happened to me on the way to the office...no really. had been looking forward to just "hanging out" with danielle and rick since they said they wanted to have their engagement session in santa monica near the pier. when we met i found out that both danielle and rick never really experience the pier in allllll its glory. so, i made an executive decision and decided to spend an hour with them while they "played"...and played, and played. not being there but 10mins. danielle and rick were quick to channel their inner child and they played games for the sure FUN of it.

now, if i wasn't there i would not have believed you if you told me that the 2nd carnival game that they played rick WON a stuffed puppy for danielle. this puppy was quick to be embraced and celebrated by danielle all day long. finally bringing on one HELLOFA smacker on rick's lips. simply beautiful.

the whole time together i didn't feel that i was a third wheel rather a friend really happy to host them in one of my favorite towns. they danced on the board walk, threw baseballs knocking down little fury trolls, crashed their bumber cars into countless unexpected drivers,

took pictures in a picture booth, made out in a picture booth,

peeked through a telescope across the channel islands.

oh, rick told me that one of his favorite pictures of danielle and him was a picture he took of them with the "retractable right arm shot". so this shot is my gift to them.

the games continued and the prizes continued to pile up. i was sorry to leave but knew that i had shared with them a great time and helped to ignite the inner kid...in all of us.

Yvonne and Eric - engagement

yvonne and eric's on-line proofing website

i know, i know...i know i am a bit out there. but, i have embraced it to my full extent. yvonne and eric arrived a bit "out of their element" but reallllllllllllllly like our photography. so, throwing caution into the wind they leaped into having "their picture taken". to describe what happened from then on, by trusting me, would be an understated "fun-time had by all". the shy, giddiness slowly turned into confidence and silliness that they love about each other and their children find comfort in. i am often marveled at how the camera can uncover and reveal ones true spirit with a bit of patience. i honestly believe yvonne and eric knew this but didn't know how devoted i am at capturing their life, one frame at a time. look, no really, look at the commitment by yvonne and eric to really share themselves as their family sees them. great couple and a more beautiful family. i am sure their wedding day will be filled with more "family moments" now that they know "how out there i am"...for them.

see you soon!

Lisa and Jeff - engagement

lisa and jeff's on-line proofing website

sometimes the excitement of the engagement and meeting your photographer can unveil some very unique images both personal and intimate. lisa and jeff have an undeniable connection that is young, romantic, shy and they have their own language. i could honestly say that what started out to be an engagement session to capture them as a couple turned out that separating them brought them even closer. when i was photographing jeff, lisa was right behind me making silly faces to jeff that i caught...i love their silliness. funny how just a subtle gesture can make lisa smile and visa versa. sometimes when i am just about to look away is when moments become photographs. i am not sure if they were in cahoots with one another but remember...you have to get up pretty early to get one past me. watch...they will. karen and i are looking forward to photographing their wedding day this christmas...hence lisa's favorite color -guess?!

Kimberly and Brian - malibu, ca

kimberly and brian's on-line proofing website

here we are at the nature’s preserve at the pt. dume bluffs in malibu,ca… what gorgeous and peaceful setting for a wedding day. the bridal party and guests were brought in london style via a red double-decker bus. the mother of the groom “georgette” has been planning this wedding for years, so much to where a date or even a proposal had not even taken place and she knew one day she wanted joey and i there to photograph her son’s wedding! it is the greatest compliment we could have ever received. we received the phone call this year… and we photographed the wedding this summer. as joey and i head further into the season and we reflect... it is couples like kim and brian along with their families that remind us of why we “love” to do what we do.

Andrea and Bryan - marina del rey, ca

andrea and bryan completely embody what it is like to be young and in love. they bring a whole new level to the meaning of the word “soul mate”… andrea and bryan’s parents were friends when they were expecting. andrea’s parents expecting andrea and bryan’s parents expecting bryan. respectfully. phew. anyway, to sit and listen to the history you would be amazed. to name just a few, andrea’s brother taught them the most incredible choreography they sprung on their unexpecting guests (no pun intended) for their 1st dance. at one point andrea was flipped upside down in her gown… totally airborne. it was thrilling. i wanted to scream “…did anyone see that!!!” i saw it through my lens and my camera was at full tilt. they led us down a path full of surprises from then on. the dandea yacht was a gorgeous and intimate setting and we found places on the boat to shoot that were very unconventional and oh so “joey carman”. awesome, simply awesome.

we had the good fortune to meet andrea and bryan this summer through a
personal client referral that we are so grateful. it is because of that trust and connection with our clients that our photography has become so “colorful”. a special thank you goes out to “natasha” for making the introduction.

Scully Family Portrait - pointe dume, malibu, california

every year we find ourselves giving back, either a donation to a local charity, community organization, elementary, church or temple... this year is no exception. we give back to our community and share our art with the families that surround and support us. the scully family is a part of our growing community and they were the proud winners of our donation at their school fundraiser. they, in turned, shared their gift with their family so we photographed their available siblings with their children and the proud grandparents with the grandchildren.

Rhonda and Juan - malibou lakes, agoura hills, ca

rhonda and juan on-line bridal album

there comes a time that more is more. let me explain. when given an opportunity to photograph a wedding for our brides karen and i are extremely passionate when it comes to doing MORE than what we have done in the past. it is that, that drives us...pushing the envelope. i have been inspired by those around me and most importantly those that i meet for the first time. it is these chance meetings that bring me to love what i do. a chance meeting a couple that not only is inspired by what we do but returns the gesture by sharing with us intimate moments of their lives...such as photographing their wedding day. this is the very heart and soul of our photography.

rhonda and juan have shared with us moments that only family and close friends are privy to...these moments are what karen and i call "signature moments". it is moments that change all focus and leads you to explore more or say "beautiful, life is good." these are the moments that we celebrate with our couples and what we celebrate together.

to say that rhonda looked beautiful would not do her any justice. she embodied the elegance of a bride and made an impression on us to last a life time.

juan's groom portrait has a true tell tale sign of his quiet but gentleman demeanor. i really enjoyed the challenge of shooting in the westlake village inn's lobby with all the hustle a bustle going on.

when given the opportunity to photograph a bride and groom before the ceremony really brings out a rush of SURPRISE each and every time. having been able to photograph rhonda up close rather than 100' away really made an impact.

to date, rhonda and juan's portrait has to be one of my favorite top ten of all time.

throughout the day and even during the engagement session juan had a gesture towards rhonda that few people picked up on... a simple touch...that's all, a reminder that the woman he is holding is loved and adored.

i can go on and on but i would be remiss if i did not mention that juan comes from a photography background and to see him along side his "pops" touched me more than he knows.

when it was time to sit and relax juan snuck up and snapped a shot of "the dream team" i think at one point we all were laughing at how the "table's were turned" what a GREAT night.

i am honored to this day each and every time i am welcomed with open arms to do what i love to do and have touched another's heart simply by being invited.

thank you rhonda, juan and your beautiful family.
