"Drawing with Light" ™

joey carman photography establishes a photography mentoring program, "drawing with light", at casa pacifica. the boys and girls come together once a week to learn, develop and share each others vision and interpretation of life through their eyes. armed with a fujifilm quicksnap 1000 disposable rangefinder...better known as, a throw away point and shoot. the boys and girls have captured some amazing images that prove that it is not the equipment that takes the photograph, it is the heart and soul of the photographer.

Lunch Break

lunch is served! karen noticed that i have been up to my eyeballs in production today and suprised me with my favorite snack of all time. lox & bagels. she came in and set it down on my desk. i just had to take a photograph of it. it looked awesome. karen makes the BEST sandwiches! i opened the blinds to the studio and shot this image "right out of the box", as joe buissink would say.

nice to have such a thoughtful and beautiful wife.

Cara and Chad - playa del rey, ca

we had so much fun joining cara and chad on their beach picnic.


actually, they took us along for the ride. they embraced our photography with open arms. judging by the images, you can see we immediately journaled their day as they see it...with a whole lot of love & spontaneity. when the waves came crashing in, chad was unwavered. nice to see a couple's love for each other translate onto film. it is also nice to be present at moments that make us all feel pretty fortunate and secure in ones embrace.

Jane and Gary - santa ynez, ca

it just doesn't get any better than this! jane and gary are one fun couple. the moment we showed up at their ranch we were celebrating their life with laughter, wine and good stories. took a tour of their ranch and found some amazing and unique spots to photograph their special connection. later jane & gary shared, with us, their ceremony and reception ideas at a local bed and breakfast; where they plan on getting married. it was nice to be included in the advance planning of their wedding. we came up with some great ideas. we can't wait to be a part of their wedding day.

Jessica & Nick - ojai, ca

beauty is is in the eye(s) of...those whom see beauty in themselves and others. jessica and nick were surrounded by such beauty. karen and i were welcomed into the family with open arms and the photos reflected their openness, warmth, spirit and undeniable zest to PARTY.


our photography has taken yet another step into a very powerful and fulfilling journey of capturing moments that impact both our souls and the lives of others.

to be a part of this day was truly an honor and a privilege. plus, we had sooooooooooo much fun getting "caught up in the moment" of things.

i have said it before and i'll say it again. we love what we do...because of people like jessica, nick, their family and friends.
